One thing Austin families can count on every summer is live music and fun galore at the weekly Children's Day Art Park. From interaction with members of The Austin Symphony, who wander the crowds performing for children, to onstage jams by some of Austin's most beloved children's entertainers, it doesn't get much better than these festive Wednesday mornings in the Symphony Square amphitheater.

For a mere 50¢ per child, kids will enjoy test-driving instruments at the instrument petting zoo, free balloons, bubbles, balloon animals, storytellers, magicians, clowns, free crafts, and free face painting! There are often surprises, like free Blue Bell ice cream, too.

Make plans to attend Children's Day Art Park on Wednesday mornings from June 12 - July 31, 2013 (excluding July 4), from 9:30 - 11:30 a.m.

2013 Performance Schedule:

June 12 – Beto y los Fairlanes
June 19 – Roy Lozano’s Ballet Folklorico
June 26 – Joe McDermott

July 3 – No Children’s Day…Happy July 4th!
July 10 – Jon Emory’s Teddy Bear Picnic (Bring your bear!)
July 17 – Staci Gray
July 24 – Biscuit Brothers
July 31 – Lucas Miller

Plan to arrive early to find the most convenient parking. After the headlining performance, which usually starts around 10 a.m., follow the Pied Piper across the street to the Art Tent, for crafts, stories, and more. Bring sunscreen and drinks (or pockets filled with dimes to buy 10¢ lemonade) because it gets hot out there, even that early in the morning. You may consider bringing a picnic along as well.

Admission is 50¢ per child. Adults are free. For more information, visit here.
