To celebrate the opening of the new IMAX movie, To the Arctic 3D, The Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum will be hosting free hands-on activities for families on Saturday, April 21, from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. Join Girlstart in the Museum lobby for "cool" science experiments and check out displays from local wildlife conservation agencies, including the Austin Zoo, to learn what you can do to help endangered animals and the environment. The activities are free, but regular admission prices apply if you would like visit the Museum exhibits or to see the movie.

To The Arctic 3D is a powerful 40-minute film, directed by two-time Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Greg MacGillivray and narrated by Oscar-winner Meryl Streep.  Highlighting the struggle of a mother polar bear as she fights to protect her cubs in a rapidly changing environment, the documentary draws you in and tugs at your heartstrings.  Balanced with breathtaking photography, humorous moments, and tales of other family units (of human, caribou, and walrus varieties), To The Arctic makes you care about the survival of wildlife in the Arctic Circle, and want to be an agent of change.  Its opening this weekend is perfectly timed for the observance of Earth Day.

Ticket prices for To the Arctic 3D are $8 for adults, $7 for seniors/military/students (with college ID) and $6 for youths age 18 and under. The IMAX Theatre is located in The Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum at 1800 N. Congress Avenue at the corner of Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd.
