The annual Back to School Parade will be held on Sunday, August 21, 2011. If your child would like to receive a free backpack filled with school supplies following the parade, here's what you need to do:
- Head to Bartholomew Park at 1p.m. on Sunday, August 21, 2011 to get a wristband. Wristbands will be distributed from 1 - 2:30 p.m., or until they run out. As long as you have this wristband and return to get the backpack before 6:00 p.m. you will get a backpack. Any student can get a wristband. You will be asked for information so that the event organizers can better understand the demographics of the families served, but there are no restrictions for receiving a backpack.
- Participate in or watch the parade, starting at 3 p.m. The parade begins at AISD Delco Center (4601 Pecan Brook) and ends in Bartholomew Park (corner of Berkman and 51st - basketball court area).
- Your student can show their wristband after the parade and get a free backpack!
If you would like to volunteer to help with this event, they are looking for volunteers to stuff the backpacks this Sunday, August 7 at 3 p.m. Meet at the Capital One Bank located at 901 S. Mopac Plaza 1, Suite 500, Austin, TX 78746. For more information on how to volunteer, to donate supplies or to make a financial contribution, visit here.
