Guest Post: Austin Steam Train Assoc. Tour
Monday, March 14, 2011
This is a guest post by Ash Kelley, an adventurous local mother of 3 fun-loving kids (pictured above).
The Austin Steam Train Association gives public guided tours on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month from 1:00-1:45 p.m. which are limited to 20 people. However, if you want a tour at another time just call their Community Outreach Coordinator at (512) 477-8468 ext. 205. Now anyone can call and schedule one. You don't have to be a school, church group or anything like that so don't be shy about calling for one. I called and scheduled one for myself and three little ones. It was a blast! They are the nicest people and the tour was great. The kids loved it! You get to board the train and walk through all the coaches and learn all about the different trains. It's free (donations are accepted) and definitely worth the trip, especially if you have a train lover in your house. They also offer train rides on the weekends for prices and tickets you can visit their website at www.austinsteamtrain.org.
