The Austin Steam Train Association gives public guided tours on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month from 1:00-1:45 p.m. which are limited to 20 people.  However, if you want a tour at another time just call their Community Outreach Coordinator at (512) 477-8468 ext. 205.

Now, anyone can call and schedule a tour. You don't have to be a school, church group, so don't be shy about calling for one. I called and scheduled one for myself and three little ones. It was a blast! They are the nicest people and the tour was great. The kids loved it! We got to board the train and walk through all the coaches and learn all about the different trains.

The tour is free (donations are accepted) and definitely worth the trip, especially if you have a train lover in your house.
